We are a small group in Detroit and Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.
We have fond memories of the Stadium.
Our dream is that Detroit has a Permanent Tiger Stadium Memorial in Corktown.
The last game played at the stadium was September 27th, 1999.
This year is the 25th anniversary of that game.
It’s been a while since most of us have thought about the Stadium.
These can be busy and contentious times.
Maybe an engaging activity like this, a simple physical thing of joy and meaning,
is just what we need, just now.
Our mission is to invite a committed group of volunteers, companies,
and individuals,that share that dream.
A team that will have the engagement and financial momentum to make this happen.
The right Oversight Group could very well just decide this into existence.
Those among us that get to say “make it so”.
Our goal is to hand this off to that Group.
A place to visit and remember.
A Corktown and Mexicantown destination spot.
A place perhaps joined in the future by a nearby museum-
One that contains the history and artifacts and recorded memories of both the
Stadium, and of the many immigrants who created Corktown and Mexicantown.
A place of Detroit pride.
And, a place of interest for a wider geographic area.
(Let’s not forget the many long-term Tiger fans across the river)

This is not our project to carry forward.
All our efforts are aimed at encouraging a small group of committed individuals-
-the Oversight Group
Whose first meeting is a discussion of who what when (not if).
Who effectively initiate the effort, then get to watch the memorial unfold.
Please email with your thoughts and your personal interest.
Especially, at this stage, with suggestions for those individuals
who would make up a balanced and effective Oversight Group.
(a few high profile participants would certainly accelerate the effort)
Let’s start strong enough to assure success

“It was the most famous address in Michigan.
Everyone knows the location.
The corner of Michigan and Trumbull
It was a connection
for everyone all over Michigan,
to the city of Detroit”
Charley Marcuse,
former hot dog vendor at Tiger Stadium
